Strategy ensures locals are prioritised for jobs

A process to procure suppliers is underway, with a focus on employing as many local people as possible.

“We have a strategy in place to employ people from the region both directly and indirectly. This includes a program of training and upskilling. It is the same process that was very successfully applied to the Town Wharf project in 2021 where 75% of workers were local,” says Project Director, Philip Wardale

“Four weeks ago, we released our first request for proposals (RFP) seeking proposals for the first of the material that needs to be removed from the site. This RFP was issued to local landowners and businesses that had expressed an interest in providing a solution.

“As part of our procurement plan, we’ve started to engage with the local construction industry advising them of the various individual work packages.”
